How do you choose the right containment capacity?

The containment capacity is the amount of liquid a spill tray can hold. Too little capacity means a leak still ends up outside the tray.

What does the required capacity depend on?

  • The number of containers and their volume
  • The type of substance and the hazard class
  • The rules that apply to your storage
  • Indoor or outdoor storage (rainwater)

Where can you find the requirements?

In the Netherlands, PGS 15 is an important guideline for the storage of packaged hazardous substances. Consult the current version on the official website. Your competent authority (municipality or environmental agency) determines which requirements apply to your location.
